Androgyny as a Spiritual Concept
Moon is in Gemini + it's Jupiter's day: Embrace all your divine qualities, masc & fem; expand your mental horizons.
it's thursday, may 29, & moon is in gemini, moving from the starspace called ardra into punarvasu about 11 a.m. MDT. in tropical/western astrology gemini is symbolized by twins, in sidereal/vedic astrology by a couple, a man holding a club & a woman a musical instrument. this union of male & female qualities, harmonizing of polarities, makes me think of ardhanarishvara, the form of shiva that is half-male & half-female, reminding us of the multiplicity of divine energies we comprise & that is is through fully integrating our masculine & feminine qualities that we feel complete, whole, cosmically whole. it's not shiva or shakti but both/&. are you ignoring/rejecting parts of you b/c you deem them too masc or too fem? denying your strength or your sensitivity? just asking!
ardra derives from its ruling deity, rudra, whose name means "the howler," so there may still be some howling going on, accompanied by tears, emotional storms. alas, transformation ain't for the weak-hearted. the great thing about storms (& we've had lots here in boulder lately) is that the sun always comes out after, the world looks brighter (& def way greener in spring!). punarvasu means "return" (punar) of the "light" (vasu), of the light within. this asterism brings renewed hope, faith, knowing all will be well again, that the universe has our back, that ardra's storms were the portal to a purer iteration of self. aditi, the presiding deity, whose name means "boundlessness," brings boundless maternal love, unconditional love. so let yourself be comforted, feel swaddled like a baby in your mother's arms.
it's the third lunar day (tithi), the third phase of the waxing moon, until midday, then the fourth. the third tithi invites us to be flexible when things don't go the way we expected them to go, the fourth to embrace obstacles as resources for finessing the work of art that is our life.
“i believe, generally all persons ... must think that whatever happens to him or her is a resource. ... all that happens to us, including our humiliations, our misfortunes, our embarrassments, all is given to us as raw material, as clay, so that we may shape our art.”—jorge luis borges
thursday is ruled by jupiter, planet of expansion, wisdom, inspiration & abundance, who is now in gemini for a year, expanding our mental horizons. how can you expand your wisdom &/or share it with others?
TL;DR
being cosmically whole means integrating all our parts. • dry your tears & be grateful to them for the transformation they facilitated. • be flexible & see all that comes as a resource for your ever enfoldment. • are you a seeker of greater wisdom, a wisdom-bearer or both/&?.
that’s your daily bliss! IN-joy! 🌒🙏✨
