Be As Flexible As Gumby
it's monday, november 4, & moon is in scorpio, in the starspace (portion of scorpio) called jyeshtha. scorpio is where moon, which represents our mind, our consciousness, is debilitated; it's where, you might say, we lose our mind, where our emotions run roughshod over it. as a result, our worst fears & paranoias rise to the surface & we lose our bearings in the darkness & murkiness of our emotions, get tossed about like an unseaworthy vessel on huge ocean swells or knocked over & sucked under by a kingsize wave we didn't see coming. if you were a kid at the beach, as i was, you learned that diving beneath the wave's face brought you to a place of watery equilibrium, a state of suspension between qualm & calm. mars' rulership of scorpio gives us the courage to dive into, to get beneath the surface of, our fears, so we realize how irrational & unfounded they are. take a big breath & go for it!
jyeshtha means "eldest" or "chief-most" & is ruled by indra, who was the chief-most among the gods & thus their protector, their defender against the demons who threatened the peaceful coexistence of their heavenly realm. our demons show up as insecurity, vulnerability, shame. this asterism brings a lesson about mastering them, inspires us to fight the good fight & never give up in the face of our demonic obstacles.
it's the third lunar day (tithi), the third phase of the waxing moon, until midmorning MDT, then the fourth. the third tithi supports us in being flexible, being able to switch gears or direction if our plan doesn't go according to plan; it encourages us to tap into our inner gumby, harness our mental skills of dexterity like accomplished yogis. the fourth tithi involves some mental dexterity as well, as it supports us in circumventing/overcoming obstacles, just as jyeshtha does, by reframing them as opportunities to expand our skill set & thus our power base & confidence by rising to the challenges they present.
monday is ruled by gentle moon, whose superpowers include kindness & compassion—for one & all—both of which we need now more than ever.
"an evolved society is rooted in compassion."—tara brach
may we be kind & compassionate to one & all, regardless of, say, how the election in the US turns out, or how long it takes to find out how it turns out.
TL;DR
rather than fear the darkness, dive into it. • self-mastery is a more masterful skill than mastering others. • get ready to shift gears & rise above challenges. • compassion is a sign of evolution.
& that’s your daily bliss! IN-joy! 🌜🙏✨
