Be Wise, Not Otherwise
Moon is in Pisces + it's Moon's day: There is A LOT of watery energy at play today, so do beware of not getting stuck in emotional quicksand, falling into the trough of despond!
it's monday, december 9, & moon is in pisces, in the starspace called uttarabhadra. pisces vibrates with the frequency of our otherworldliness, of our out-there-ness. it's where we connect to who we are beyond this mortal coil, or are at least curious about, want or get a taste of it. it's where we might feel the boundaries of our individual selves dissolving into the oneness of being, where, to paraphrase rumi, we realize that we are not a drop in the ocean but the ocean in a drop. or, i would say, def not to quibble with rumi's wisdom, maybe both/&.
uttarabhadra is ruled by ahirbudhnya, a deepwater serpent, & has a fixed quality. this asterism invites us to take action to stick our goal, sustain it, by being as wise & calculating as a serpent, not impulsive, to wait until the time is right to strike.
it's the ninth lunar day (tithi), the ninth phase of the waxing moon, which calls in the energy of the nagas (yes, more serpents!), harbingers & protectors of wisdom, who love to dive deep into the nooks & crannies of the psyche. this tithi has a quality of fierceness & is associated with goddess durga, a fierce mother-protector if ever there was one. & lord rama, protector of his lineage, was born on this tithi. hmmm, serpents, durga, rama—whaaaa?! we may feel like retreating into our innermost sanctum to ponder our biggest life questions or just tap into our inner durga or rama to focus lovingly on our householder responsibilities. & note to self: there is A LOT of water element at play today—pisces, uttarabhadra, this tithi, moon's day—so do beware of emotional quicksand, of falling into the trough of despond!
monday is ruled by all-caring moon, who, while sooooo focused on caring for others, easily forgets about self-care.
"caring for myself is not self-indulgence. it is self-preservation, & that is an act of political warfare."—audre lorde
i'm not saying you have to take up arms or carry a placard & march down main street, just that if we don't keep ourselves topped up we won't have anything to give others, that putting our own masks on first means we'll have enough oxygen to help others. i mean, we're useless if we become asphyxiated, right?
TL;DR
what does being a drop in the ocean & the ocean in a drop mean to you? • stick your goal by calculating when the time is right to strike. • dive into the depths of your innermost sanctum or focus on your outer sanctum. • self-care enables us to care for others.
& that’s your daily bliss! IN-joy! 🌓🙏✨
