Burn. It. Up!
Moon is in Capricorn + it's Mercury's day: Establish boundaries, but don't go overboard; give your discriminating intelligence a workout.
it's wednesday, february 26, & moon is in capricorn, in the starspace (pie slice of capricorn sky) called dhanishtha. earthy capricorn creates an environment in which we can create boundaries, solid structures for our lives, fix them in time & place. it is opposite watery cancer, where love & emotions can be boundless, as in boundaryless, & reminds us to be neither too rigid, too curmudgeonly, you might say, with our heart nor to give it away wantonly, freely.
dhanishtha brings a lesson about wealth, about what makes us feel wealthy, abundant. "to be truly wealthy is to have a fulfilled heart, & that means to love & be loved," writes his holiness radhanath swami in "the journey within," adding, "the joy of love is the true wealth inherent in all of us, & learning to recognize it is what spiritual practice is all about."
"if you want to know how rich you are, try to find how many things you have that money cannot buy."—proverb
how wealthy do you feel? how much abundance to you really have in your life?
it's the fourteenth lunar day (tithi), the fourteenth phase of the waning moon, which is presided over by jwalamalini devi, whose name means "garlanded with flames." we are invited to toss into the sacrificial fire, to burn to ashes, release whatever no longer serves us so we have room to manifest anew with the new moon tomorrow. fierce kali, who takes no prisoners, has no room for sentimentality, for the prison of nostalgia, is associated with this tithi. she says, "burn. it. up!" this tithi has huge potential for transformation & purification. what say you? what needs to go?
wednesday is ruled by mercury, who gives us the discriminating intelligence to know what's true & what isn't, to separate fact from fiction. in the tradition of vedanta, discriminating intelligence is known as viveka & is the first prerequisite for embarking on the spiritual journey, which in the case of vedanta entails separating what's real from what's not, what is eternal & what is not. spoiler alert: anything that changes, which means pretty much everything (!), is unreal in the absolute scheme of things. anyhoo, viveka isn't one & done; it's a process, a muscle that you work like your quads at the gym. how can you strengthen your discriminating intelligence, give it a workout today?
TL;DR
being an emotional curmudgeon has its upsides & downsides. • observe the true abundance in your life. • prepare for the new moon tomorrow by releasing, burning to ashes what no longer serves you. • the only way to develop more discriminating intelligence is to use it—it’s a process.
& that’s your daily bliss! IN-joy! 🌘🙏✨
