Heavenly Delights & the Sweetness of Life
Moon is in Scorpio + it's Venus' day: Patti Smith & David Lynch weigh in, Venus leads out a rare parade of planets visible in the early evening sky.
it's friday, january 24, & moon is in scorpio, in the starspace (pie slice of scorpio sky) called anuradha. scorpio, opposite our comfort zone of taurus, is our discomfort zone, where we experience the pain & suffering of life. it can be all sturm und drang, all storm & stress, but it doesn't have to be. patti smith has said that "suffering is part of the package," part of the price we pay for the gift of being human. but the buddha taught that while pain is inevitable, suffering is optional—it's a result of the mental & emotional distress that arises from our attachment & resistance to our pain. basically, suffering is all in our head, & we can opt out if we are mindful, conscious (see more below).
anuradha can be translated as "following" (anu) in the footsteps of "radha" (radha, krishna's divine friend, bestie, most loyal companion). this asterism brings a lesson about seeing & treating others as divine beings, as fractals of the one. as you go about your day & interact with others, why not ask yourself, "what would radha do?"
it's the eleventh lunar day (tithi), the eleventh phase of the waning moon, which is related to spiritual practices, like fasting & meditation, b/c it is considered to be the tithi when our mind is the least bizzy & buzzy & so most receptive. receptive to what? to the experience of the "sweetest nectar of life, pure bliss consciousness" as david lynch, who practiced transcendental meditation twice a day for 50 years, put it. it gave him "effortless access to unlimited reserves of energy, creativity & happiness deep within," adding, "this level of life is sometimes called 'pure consciousness'—it is a treasury. & this level of life is deep within us all."
friday is ruled by venus, planet of our earthly delights & right now also of our heavenly delights, as venus is the lead planet in the evening's parade of planets, a rare event (it's gonna get even rarer in late february when mercury joins & leads the parade out), with venus, uranus, saturn, jupiter, neptune & mars stringing themselves across the evening sky like a strand of cosmic pearls. yes, you will need a telescope to see uranus & neptune, but all the rest of the heavenly bodies will be visible just after sunset. so be deeeeeelighted day & night!
TL;DR
pain is inevitable, suffering optional. • asking ourselves “what would radha do?” may be the key to bringing heaven down to earth. • meditation gives us access to “the sweetest nectar of life.” • venus brings deeeeelight day & night.
& that’s your daily bliss! IN-joy! 🌗🙏✨
