Is Happiness Boring?
Moon is in Scorpio + it's Mercury's day: "Life should have ups & downs," said Molière; communication confusion reigns—listen more, talk less.
it's wednesday, april 16, & moon is in scorpio, in the starspace (pie slice of scorpio sky) called anuradha. watery scorpio is the sign of watery moon's debilitation—water + water = way too much emotionality without any support, stabilizing element, like the earth element of taurus, which is opposite scorpio & is where moon is exalted. scorpio is thus our emotional discomfort zone, taurus our comfort zone. every sign is opposite another, inviting us to harmonize the polarity between the two, not swing completely in one direction or the other. for example, capricorn & cancer are in opposition, inviting us to be heart-centered (cancer) while maintaining boundaries (capricorn), to put our nose to the grindstone (capricorn) while not being icy-cold robotic about it, doing it out of love (cancer) not just duty (cap). we are generally toggling back & forth, trying to find our mama bear just-rightness. we are always bopping between our taurus happy & our scorpio unhappy—neither lasts forever. besides, as molière said, "unbroken happiness is a bore; it should have ups & downs." who wants to be bored?!
anuradha is the star of devotion & brings a lesson about whom & what we are devoted to—if we are devoted at all. do you treat the people in your life as holy, fractals of the divine, your life & every act you perform as sacred? what would it be like if, say, you washed the dishes as an offering to god, brahman?
it's the fourth lunar day (tithi), the fourth phase of the waning moon, which is connected to ganesh, remover of obstacles, including obstacles to communication. if you feel thwarted, chant to ganesh.
wednesday is ruled by mercury, who, yes, is finally in forward motion but is still debilitated, albeit with the support of exalted venus also in pisces. is that confusing? well, thinky-communicative merc in pisces is a confused guy! merc is the part of us that tells stories, which, as joan didion said, we do all of the time in order to live, to make sense of the world around us & our place in it. humans are natural, & i might add, incessant storytellers, spinners of narratives. what story are you telling right now? beware getting caught up in thinking your stories = truth, now more than ever. listen more than you talk, & chant to ganesh if you need help speaking clearly.
TL;DR
it’s not happiness vs. unhappiness but both/&. • what & whom are you devoted to? • overcoming obstacles is how we evolve. • we tell stories to survive—that doesn’t mean they’re true.
& that’s your daily bliss! IN-joy! 🌖🙏✨
