Learning from Stillness
Moon is in Capricorn + it's Mars' day: The tortoise wins the race, but ya gotta be in the race: get fired up with productivity not fighting words.
it's tuesday, february 25, & moon is in capricorn, in the starspace (pie slice of capricorn sky) called shravana. capricorn vibrates with the frequency of taking care of business, our business-business, if we have one, the business of our life. cap is ruled by stern saturn, planet of karma & time, who keeps our nose to the grindstone, gives us stick-to-it-ive-ness. he reminds us that we don't have all the time in the world but/& not to rush, to be tortoises, if necessary, not hares.
shravana is derived from the sanskrit verb shru (श्रु), "to hear," "listen," "lend an ear to," & encourages us to listen deeply, with our inside, not our outside, ears, to get so quiet, so still, that we can connect to the ineffable. in his latest book, aflame: learning from stillness, journeyist & journalist pico iyer reflects on the power of retreat to allow us to arrive more deeply into ourselves: “retreat, i’m coming to find, is not so much about escape as redirection and recollection." in our modern-day world of constant distractions, of more more more pulling us outward, we can forget about our inner world. “the external world is so intense now,” he writes, “that the internal almost gets drowned out.” what might stillness have to teach you? how might even a mini-retreat yield positive redirection
it's the thirteenth lunar day (tithi), the thirteenth phase of the waning moon, which is presided over by sarvamangala devi, whose name means "the all auspicious one." this tithi, thus, removes all shortcomings & increases all auspiciousness—yay! & its planetary ruler, jupiter, helps us receive/integrate knowledge, by, say, sitting quietly in meditation & reflecting on teachings. & as if that's not enough, this tithi resonates well with mars (tuesday), the one-two punch producing siddha yoga, a combo for accomplishment!
tuesday is ruled by mars, so it's a great good day to be proactive & productive, to, well, accomplish (which see, above). you, go! meanwhile, mars is in gemini, firing up our conversations, so it's important to hew toward what we know is right, rather than to our sense of righteousness, to let our actions speak louder than our words, b/c mars is, after all, the spiritual warrior, not the one who picks fights just to pick a fight, whether with words or weapons.
TL;DR
it’s a nose-to-the-grindstone kinda day. • take time to retreat within & you just might be surprised by what you learn. • all shortcomings are removed, all auspiciousness increased—yay! • be proactive & accomplish, accomplish, accomplish & beware toxic conversations.
& that’s your daily bliss! IN-joy! 🌘🙏✨
