Now or Never

New Moon in Taurus/Rohini invites us to grow, create, to transcend our illusions & delusions & be open to new realities about who we are.

it's monday, may 26, & moon is in taurus, where it will be "new" this evening, in the starspace (pie slice of taurus sky) called rohini. new moon is created when sun & moon, the divine masculine & the divine feminine, merge. as happens when the masc & fem unite, a new seed is fertilized & begins to grow as the moon grows in brightness, so new moon is the perfect time to set a new intention & nourish it. let's unpack the cosmic energies in the new moon mix:

setting the stage, this fortnight embraces all the big planetary shifts: saturn's move into pisces for two & a half years, jupiter's into gemini for a year, rahu's in aquarius & ketu's in leo for the next year & a half, & mars will finally move out of debilitation in watery cancer into the more cozy fire of leo, on june 6.

rohini, whose shakti, or superpower, is the power to grow, to expand beyond our limitations/routines/habits, is moon's favorite place, where moon is exalted (most intelligently moony).

taurus' ruler, venus, is still exalted in pisces, so both fem/watery planets are bursting with mojo, while masculine/fiery sun & mars not so much—sun b/c he's in enemy venus' sign, mars b/c he's debilitated in cancer.

this new moon marks saturn's appearance day (bday): he brings humility, the opportunity to learn karmic lessons. the saturn-rahu conjunction in pisces has asked us to examine our illusions/delusions/confusions. venus in pisces invites in new inspiration & creativity, invites us to be open to new realities, including about who we think we are.

rohini is also the birth star of lord krishna, ever playful, ever immersed, like a child, in the present moment, in the experience of the now.

true humility isn't self-abnegation but knowing that we don't know everything & being open/receptive to learning. which can only happen when we are fully present, in each moment, allowing the big reveals.

there is also what's called a kala sarpa yoga at play. this happens when all the planets are in the half of the zodiac boundaried by rahu & ketu, which turns up the dial on intensity.

so our moon work for the waxing cycle is to tap into our feminine qualities of intuition, compassion/forgiveness (for ourself & others), sensitivity & creativity by being fully present to the opportunities to learn in each moment, to be very here, very now.
