Out, Out, Dang Blindspot!

it's monday, february 17, & moon is in libra, in the starspace (pie slice of libra sky) called citra. libra vibrates with the frequency of our social selves, which, regardless of how social we are, is the foundation of being human. we are social creatures. it is only in relation to others that we know ourselves, can see ourselves. our people reflect both our gifts & our flaws back to us, hopefully with generosity & no judgment. but/& sometimes we judge & blame, get annoyed with others for the same things we do without even realizing it, like, say, interrupting when the other person is talking or telling the same story ad infinitum or asking for advice & then dismissing it. this lack of awareness reveals our blindspots, but the catch-22 is that our blindspots can only be revealed with awareness, which comes from deep self-inquiry, the kindness of a friend or both.

citra is ruled by tvashtar, the cosmic architect, who famously manifested objects that were useful & beautiful through the power of his mind. we are invited to bring form out of the formless, out of the dark, fertile soil of our imagination, to transform negative energy into something positive, useful & beautiful, perform alchemy. after all, citra means "brilliant," "bright," "glittering," "artful." citra resonates well with the fifth tithi, but/& our challenge may be to be soooo inspired that we spread ourselves too thinly, lose focus.

it's the fifth lunar day (tithi), the fifth phase of the waning moon, which is ruled by vahnivasini devi, whose name means "the one dwelling in fire." this is not the fire of self-immolation (!), but the fire of inspiration & creativity, the fire that shines a light on ignorance—aka, limiting beliefs, not stupidity. it is said that saraswati, goddess of learning & the creative arts (music, painting, writing), was born on this tithi, which also has the quality of strength. how might that energy support you today?

monday is ruled by moon, who wants all beings everywhere to be happy & free & to contribute in some way to that happiness & freedom for all. lokah samastah sukhino bhavantu!
