Respect Yo' Self
Moon is in Scorpio + it's Mars' day: IN-joy the dark & light sandwich! Move & groove!
it's tuesday, july 8, & moon is in scorpio, in the starspace called jyeṣṭḥā. scorpio is where we get to dive into our darkness, our shadow & turn it into light, into wisdom, into insights about how we roll by bringing awareness to it, walking hand in hand with it.
artists, says author-songwriter amanda palmer, "deliver the light & the dark as a sandwich." they "go into the darkness to make light," go "really deep into the woods, into the darkest dark."
are we not all artists of our lives? are we not in an ongoing process of refinement, of manifestation, of peeling back more & more layers to reveal our most authentic selves?
jyeṣṭḥā means "eldest," as in the eldest child in a family, who often has responsibility for younger siblings; as in a respected elder. this asterism is ruled by indra, whose name is related to the indriyas, our senses, & brings a lesson about respect coming from our ability to control them, to control our desires (which doesn't mean squashing them), be in integrity.
once upon a time, indra had an affair with the wife of a sage named gautama, who then cursed indra by covering his body with 1,000 vaginas, so all the world knew of his sinfulness. indra had to do tapas (penance) for 1,000 years to lift the curse (they took curses seriously in puranic times!), at which point the vaginas became eyes. which was a better look, but, still!
moral of the story: control yo' self! maintain alignment. don't cross your own or anyone else's boundaries. respect comes from being upstanding: respect yourself & others will respect you.
it's the thirteenth lunar day (tithi), the thirteenth phase of the waxing moon, until about 1 p.m. MDT, which is ruled by kamadeva, the hindu cupid, then the fourteenth, ruled by kali. on the thirteenth tithi, wrote swami sivananda, "nature assists the worshipper in waking up from his mental deep sleep & in becoming aware of the fourth state (turiya)." on the fourteenth, awareness helps us sacrifice more of our ego, the mask we wear to protect ourselves, that keeps us separate. what might you toss into the fire today?
tuesday is mars' day. he's our inner action hero, so prime his engine as early as possible with movement: dance, go for a run, do some jumping jacks. what's the best that could happen as a result?
TL;DR
insights come from walking hand in hand with our shadow. • to be a true elder means being in alignment with yourself, not crossing boundaries. • time to wake up & burn up what’s not serving us. • prime mars’ engine by incorporating movement into your early-morning routine.
& that’s your daily bliss! IN-joy! 🌔🙏✨
