Root Down to Rise Up
Full Moon in Cancer/Ashlesha over night invites us to tap into our serpent superpowers to purify our karma—yes, our work is never done!
it's tuesday, february 11, & moon is in cancer, in the starspace (pie slice of cancer sky) called ashlesha, where the moon maxes out in fullness just before sunrise tomorrow. full moon means sun is exactly opposite. while moon will be in the last degrees of cancer, sun will be in the last degrees of capricorn, both luminaries about to change signs, sun into aquarius, moon into leo, both transits bringing sensitivity & huge potential for transformation for different reasons.
sun is our soul(ar) battery, & when he moves signs it takes a new york minute for him to plug back in, recharge. both capricorn & aquarius are ruled by saturn & the two signs are associated with our root chakra. fears & insecurities around home, family, money may arise, anything that makes us feel unrooted.
the juncture between water (cancer) & fire (leo) signs is called a gandanta. it's where karmic detritus that we think has long settled & sunk into the ocean floor, an issue we thought we were so over gets churned up, rises to the surface. karmic work is never (at least in my experience!) one & done. as my lama used to say, if you're still thinking about it, you're still working on it.
cancer & leo are associated with ajna chakra, our third eye, seat of our soul, our consciousness.
ashlesha is ruled by the nagas, serpent deities who represent our hidden potential, our ability to transform limiting beliefs & negative tendencies into wisdom.
kundalini shakti, our innate wisdom, realization of our divine nature, is also represented by a snake, coiled in a dormant state at the base of our spine.
as above, so below: just as there are karmic knots in the zodiac, so there are karmic knots in our energetic bodies—the first at our root chakra, the last at our third eye. if we can pierce the first knot by purifying our karma, kundalini wakes up & begins to rise, eventually piercing our third-eye chakra, where we get to experience profound spiritual "aha!" moments.
mercury is still combust the sun, so we may be overthinking, overly judgy.
the full moon invites us to be curious not critical, flexible not rigid, to tune into sensations & feelings, go beyond our narrative, our thinky mind, get body- & heart-centered to heal, untie the knots that bind so we can uncoil & root down to rise up, as a snake does.
TL;DR
if you are still thinking about it, it means you haven’t resolved that karma. unresolved karma is what keeps us from experiencing our highest potential. this full moon offers ginormous potential for transformation—if we can feel & allow rather than judge & cling.
& that’s your daily bliss! IN-joy! 🌕🙏✨
