Root to Rise
Moon is in Sagittarius + it's Mercury's day: Breaking news: Beliefs are not facts! Childlike wonder just might save the day!
it's wednesday, july 9, & moon is in sagittarius, in the starspace (pie slice of sag sky) called mūla. sagittarius is the sign of our beliefs, which create a container of higher purpose for our life. the thing is, beliefs aren't facts, they're just opinions put on pedestal, which is why sagittarius is opposite gemini, where we collect data & use our discriminating intelligence to analyze it, to separate fact from fiction.
"opinion is really the lowest form of human knowledge. it requires no accountability, no understanding. the highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos & live in another's world. it requires profound purpose larger than the self kind of understanding."—plato
mūla's mantra is "declutter, declutter, declutter." mūla means "root," which yogis know from mūladhāra chakra, the root chakra, which is connected to our foundation, to what supports & nourishes our life (family & money), just as the roots of a tree allow it to grow, its branches to spread far & wide. this asterism is ruled by niritti, an especially fierce form of kali, who empowers us to destroy the poisonous roots of our life, which are, like weeds, sucking the nutrients from the auspicious, beneficial ones. what gets to go? what would you like to create space for? what can you release so that you can rise up, up, up rather than be held down, down, down? niritti takes no prisoners—can you?
it's the fourteenth lunar day (tithi), the fourteenth phase of the waxing moon, which means we have a full moon tomorrow! as i mentioned yesterday, the fourteenth tithi brings a quality of sacrifice. as the moon is almost full as full, we may be feeling full to bursting & can get much-needed relief by letting whatever isn't serving us go. & we're getting an extra boost of "we can do this!" from mūla.
wednesday is mercury's day—he's thinky & curious, communicative & playful. & he's still in cancer, where his/our rational mind may be getting swamped by emotions. uh-oh, feelings! all hands on deck! start bailing water! work your mercury muscle by solving a puzzle (or trying to), journaling, or writing to a prompt, like the one suleika jaouad shares in her weekly substack newsletter, the isolation journals—just for the fun of it. tap into your inner child & engage in the world with innocent wonder.
TL;DR
fact-check your beliefs! • declutter home, head & heart. • ditto! • try seeing & experiencing the world through the eyes of wonder.
& that’s your daily bliss! IN-joy! 🌔🙏✨
