Shiva on My Mind
New Moon is in Aquarius/Shatabhishak: Transparency, with yourself &/or others, is the first step toward transformation & thus healing.
it's thursday, february 27, & we have a new moon in aquarius, in the starspace (pie slice of aquarius sky) called shatabhishak. also in the mix: saturn, mercury & rahu nearish by in purvabhadra & exalted venus in uttarabhadra. so let's unpack all that!
the new moon is the climax of the waning lunar cycle, when moon & sun, the divine feminine & the divine masculine, come together to plant a seed, create new life. this waning cycle also climaxed with maha shivaratri, the great night of lord shiva, a celebration of deep transformation & purification.
even if you couldn't care less about hindu holidays, the fact is that they are tied to the lunar calendar & so we kinda can't help being subtly in tune with their energy. i also mention this b/c shiva is associated with both purvabhadra & uttarabhadra, which are represented by the front & back legs, respectively, of a funeral cot. we are in the realm of cremation grounds, where shiva is quite at home.
shatabhishak means "100 medicines/healers" & is ruled by varuna, the god of cosmic order & universal law. & b/c aquarius falls under the domain of shiva, so does shatabhishak, in the heart of aquarius. this asterism can veil & varuna can bring what's veiled/hidden (secrets) out into the open. i know firsthand that healing comes, whether for ourselves or others, when we can be honest, transparent.
after sati performed a ritual act of self-immolation in response to her father's humiliation of shiva, shiva spread his beloved's ashes all over his body & grieved her, grieved her, grieved her.
aquarius vibrates with the frequency of humanity; it's where we take reponsibility for healing the world, where we understand that we are the ones we have been waiting for, no party, no individual is going to do it for us,
putting it all together: this new moon brings huge potential for transformation ... if we can walk through our own cremation grounds & grieve what we've lost & thus extract its wisdom. what has ended that you haven't yet acknowledged? what have you not allowed yourself to grieve? what's been churned up? how might that process fertilize, like ashes do fields, the field of your mind, allow something new to grow? & don't forget that shiva wears a moon in his hair, reminding us that our mind (aka the moon) is what matters.
TL;DR
you get to dance in your own darn cremation grounds! what has ended that you haven’t acknowledged? what do you still need to grieve? what seed do you want to fertilize with the wisdom that process yields?
& that’s your daily bliss! IN-joy! 🌑🙏✨
