Slay the Dragon
Moon is in Scorpio + it's Jupiter's day: Where attention goes, our energy flows; there is light at the end of our tunnel.
it's thursday, april 17, & moon is, yes, still in scorpio, now in the starspace (pie slice of scorpio sky) called jyeshtha. where the mind goes, energy flows. in the environment of scorpio, our mind may go to & get stuck in negativity, which can feel like quicksand, can make us feel like an insect in a spider's web. in a translation of shankaracharya's aparokshanubhuti, swami vimuktananda points out that "when a wasp brings into its hole a particular kind of insect, the latter, out of fear, constantly thinks of its assailant till it is transformed into a wasp." or as lao-tze said:
watch your thoughts; they become words.
watch your words; they become actions.
watch your actions; they become habits.
watch your habits; they become character.
watch your character; it becomes your destiny.
jyeshtha is ruled by indra, king of the gods, whose name is related to indriyas, the word for our sense organs. indra is famous for slaying the dragon demon vritra, who had stolen all the water from the world—not a drop to drink or bathe in or water with anywhere—using a special sword fashioned from a thunderbolt to slice open vritra's belly, where the water was imprisoned. vritra means "the enveloper" or "restrainer," as in what prevents the water from flowing. we might ask ourselves how we prevent our waters from flowing, give our inner demons power over us: how might we self-sabotage, how might we be victims of rather than masters of our senses, our indriyas? this asterism brings a message about perfecting self-mastery, about being our own boss before we even think of being the boss of others.
it's the fifth lunar day (tithi), the fifth phase of the waning moon, which supports us in achieving our goal, hitting our mark, as long as we know what it is, aren't trying to aim at myriad bull's-eyes.
thursday is ruled by jupiter, who just happens to be giving moon a direct hit of his light today, imbuing us with hope, giving us faith that all will turn out well, that, speaking of insects, there is way more going on than we can see from our micro perspective, just as (to mix metaphors!) a grain of sand has no idea it's part of an entire beach.
TL;DR
our destiny starts with our thoughts, so let’s mind them. • where can you use more self-mastery? • be single-pointed-focused on just one goal if you want to achieve it. • hopefulness is in the air!
& that’s your daily bliss! IN-joy! 🌖🙏✨
