it's wednesday, october 2, & moon is in virgo, in the starspace (portion of virgo) called hasta, where new moon & solar eclipse are happening. new moon means sun, the divine masculine, & moon, the divine feminine, are as intimately conjoined as the masculine & feminine are in the process of creating new life. also hanging out nearby are mercury, who rules virgo, & ketu, the south node, who is responsible for the eclipse. watching all the action in virgo are jupiter, who is sending inspiration from taurus, & mars, giving us courage, from gemini.
what does it all mean?
for one thing, that moon is dark as dark, that just as black contains all colors, moon has absorbed all the light, all our light, but/& is just pausing before it/we get to start shining it again in the waxing cycle. i like to think of this as the magic dark, in which the dormant seeds of infinite possibility wake up & germinate.
virgo is the sign of habits & healing, of attention to details, of perfectionism, which can mean looking so closely at the trees we lose sight of the forest.
hasta means "hand" & is ruled by savitur, who is the first rays of the sun at dawn, who dispels illusion, chases bad dreams (hallucinations!) away, vanquishes shadow. hasta is the star of creation/manifestation, reminding us that bringing something to life entails equal parts effort & grace.
mercury gives us clarity of thinking & the ability to communicate. mercury is, however, hanging out way too close to the sun & ketu, which means we may not be thinking clearly & may miscommunicate as a result b/c we just can't wait to share what's on our mind, may be feeling utterly confused, in the, um, dark about next steps.
eclipses reveal what's hidden, secrets we've been hiding, from ourselves or others, secrets that have been hidden from us, give us an opportunity to examine our shadow, which might now involve unrealistic expectations, clinging to perfectionism, habits that don't bring out the best in us, aren't yielding the results we desire.
pisces, sign of surrender, is opposite virgo, sign of control, & where rahu, the north node, is hanging out.
putting it all together: our moon work for the waxing cycle is to ask ourselves what & how we are creating, whether we are using the most skillful means possible. we are invited to trust our intuition rather than our mind, to trust the pause, be in the mystery.
TL;DR
what do you want to manifest? are you equally efforting & allowing? are you relaying too much on your critical (overly critical?!) faculties rather than your intuition? clinging to perfectionism? if you are confused, be with it, wait for clarity.
& that’s your daily bliss! IN-joy! 🌕🙏✨
Lovely, Jaimie. I am a double Virgo with my moon in Pisces. Seems to full some "interesting" results. I have been very aware of these eclipses. Not sure what is to emerge. I guess I am in my Pisces side... just surrendering and letting my Virgo take the back seat?
Have been waiting for this one! I’ve been feeling so tired leading up to this moon and taking a moment to read this quietly has been such a blessing 🙏 thank you so much for taking the time to share your wisdoms and for the clear and engaging way you lay it out. Particularly loved this line “bringing something to life entails equal parts effort & grace”.
